音楽に慰められ、書物の中に忘れたくない一言を見つけるように、人の眼差しや過ぎゆく風景に、言葉にならない感慨が俄かに込み上げることがあります。
そういうものに毎日囲まれ、片っ端から忘れていくのです。そのなかのほんの一握りでも留め置き、色彩を喜び線を楽しむ絵画への愛情のもと、如何様にか己が抱いた感慨ごと再現することはできないだろうかと取り組んでいます。現実の風景も物語の一場面も様々な形態ながら同様に、心を打つものとして目にした者に明日へと生きていく気力を呼び起こすようです。
対象からその恩恵を受けて描いた私の絵が、私自身が与えられたような力を持つことを願っています。
In my daily life, no matter what I see —— for example, someone’s eyes or a scene that passes in front of me —— I suddenly feel a deep emotion. It is like the comfort that comes from a phrase of music, or reading a book and finding one meaningful sentence that you never want to forget. Before I can find a word to explain what the emotion is, I forget. Then a new scene brings a new feeling, and then yet another. In my art works, based on my affection for painting with the joy of colors and lines, I am trying to recreate some of those scenes that include the emotion I hold. No matter if these scenes are from real life or from fiction, they seem to transmit a power, which offers encouragement.
Just as the scenes have moved me to paint, I hope my work has this same kind of power on the viewer.
